**"How Much a Dollar Cost" by Kendrick Lamar.** It's the perfect rebuttal because it dismantles both halves of the "rap isn't music" argument at once: jazz pianist Robert Glasper lays down live, richly harmonic instrumentation while Kendrick delivers a complete moral parable — a man refuses to give a beggar a dollar, and the twist reframes the whole song. In four minutes it proves rap can carry the compositional sophistication of jazz and the narrative weight of literature, which is more than most genres manage in an entire album.

**Pornogrind.** Every other subgenre, even the widely mocked ones like nu metal or djent, has bands that pushed the genre somewhere new and earned devoted scenes. Pornogrind mostly trades in shock-value lyrics about degradation, wrapped in guttural slop that grindcore and death metal already do with more craft and actual ideas. Cutting it loses almost nothing artistically and arguably clears out metal's least defensible corner. Worth saying plainly, though: this is a taste call, not a fact — plenty of people would nominate something else entirely, and no genre is objectively "wrong" to exist
